Have you ever wondered what counselling is all about? I mean, why do people talk to a stranger about their feelings when they can talk to their friends!

The biggest difference with talking to the Friendly Therapist is that I create a safe space for you to share your problems. I will see things from your perspective and I’ll help you to understand your feelings in a non-judgemental way.

I may ask questions during your session to help you uncover meanings.

I’ll help you to reflect on your life experiences and how they have shaped your present situation.

I will try to help you make connections to discover your hidden emotions.

Friends are a great support because they want to make you feel that everything’s going to be OK.

The relationship you’ll have with me will be different as you begin to trust me and the process of counselling over time.

How do I counsel my clients?

Person-Centred Therapy is my style of counselling. I understand how people’s personalities are formed and I work with clients in a way that promotes their personal growth.

I believe that everyone can create positive change within themselves. And focusing on your experience of life is the best way for me to help you do this.

I also believe that my clients should remain in control of their sessions, as it is their feelings that I am helping them explore. So I always work at your pace and it’s OK if you don’t want to talk about something.

The overall goal is to self-actualise and become the best person that you can be. This doesn’t mean that you’ll be winning Nobel prizes! But it does mean you’ll become the best version of yourself and I honestly feel that we are all capable of doing this.
